I grew up in Evanston and Casper, graduating from Natrona County High School in 1996. After high school, I traveled east to Keene, New Hampshire where I attended Keene State College earning a BS degree in Computer Science graduating Summa Cum Laude. While at Keene State I competed in both Cross Country and Track, earning NCAA Division III All-American honors four times. Several years after graduating from college I was inducted into the Keene State College Athletic Hall of Fame.
During my freshman year of college, I enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and was assigned to the 167th Support Group in Manchester, New Hampshire. During my four years of service, I rose from the rank of private to sergeant. At the end of my enlistment, I was honorably discharged.
After college, I returned west and worked as a software engineer for six years in Salt Lake City. I then entered a career in law enforcement which is where I have worked for the last 19 years. This career has taken me and my family to El Paso, Texas, then Austin, Texas, Moscow, Russia, and finally allowed us to come home to Wyoming and move to Lander. We have been in Lander for nearly 10 years and have made it our permanent home.

My wife and I have been busy raising seven children. Our oldest two children have graduated and are making their way in the world. Our five children who remain at home attend Lander Middle School, and Lander Valley High School.
In August 2019 I was appointed to fill a vacant position on the Fremont County School District #1 Board of Trustees. I accepted that appointment willingly but with trepidation having no previous experience working with school boards. Over the last five years I have been a champion of quality education. After the initial chaos with COVID in 2020, I successfully fought to get our schools open and to keep them open. I pushed against over-reach from Washington and Cheyenne, allowing us to return to mask free learning environments as soon as possible. I have authored or supported policies reinforcing parental rights, transparency in our libraries and other materials, and preventing staff from proselytizing personal political, ideological, or religious beliefs. I continue to support conceal carry for qualified staff and other common sense security measures.
